OKAMOTO STUDIO is the first of its kind: an ice sculpting studio dedicated to elevating the artistry of ice. Over the past 20 years, Takeo and Shintaro Okamoto have earned an international reputation, having won a Silver Medal in the 1998 Winter Olympics (breaking a tie for the gold on a technicality), multiple first-place awards in the U.S. International Ice Carving Competition, and the first-place prize and parade in the European Ice Carving Championship in Naples, Italy. Their creative skill has been recognized by the White House, fine art publications, and galleries and museums across America.
OKAMOTO STUDIO merges the talent of Takeo and Shintaro to bring high-end ice sculptures to New York City. Their aesthetic understanding, engineering skill, and unique sculpting technique enable them to create original, more exquisitely detailed ice on a grander scale than has been previously possible.
Takeo is the master sculptor. From his graceful execution of single-block sculptures to the upward construction of long-lasting, intricate pieces towering up to twenty feet tall and weighing more than three tons, Takeo’s skill is unparalleled.
Shintaro is the artist. His ice designs are informed by an innate sensibility, a thorough knowledge of art history, and an acute interest in contemporary trends.
The entire Okamoto Studio team collaborates closely together, sharing experience, creativity and support to each other and our clients.
